Summer Cheese & Wine Evening

18th July 2008

The summer cheese and wine evening was well attended by about 30 members and friends.

Special guests were members of the Friends of Norfolk Mills group. It is hoped that it will be one of the first of many reciprocal events held at various Norfolk Mills and hosted by different mill groups.

Presentation of a cheque to Mike from Douglas

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of a cheque for £100 from the Friends of Norfolk Mills group. This was one of three cheques awarded to mills in Norfolk by the newly reformed group. Mike Thurlow, miller at Letheringsett received the cheque, on behalf of the Friends of Letheringsett Mill, from Douglas Munro, treasurer of Friends of Norfolk Mills group. This is to be used for the purchase of a quern, a hand turned grinding stone to demonstrate the milling process in a very visual way, as a hands on exhibit in the school room, for children of all ages!

Mike thanked Friends of Norfolk Mills for the cheque and welcomed the new approach and co-operation between the various mills groups in Norfolk that is being encouraged by the newly reformed group.

Watching the duck race

Anticipation as the ducks race head towards

the finishing line!

Winners of the Duck race,

Jill, Pam and Fiona and ducks!

Just before the light started to fade, the duck race created more interest. Anticipation mounted as the ducks floated towards the finish line. The ducks passing the finish line, avoided eddies that could propel them backwards and getting tangled in weeds.

Congratulations to the winner, Pam and runners up Jill and Fiona!
